(E)-2-(3,3-Dimethylcyclohexylidene)acetaldehyde​ is a key active component of the aggregation pheromone of the boll weevil (Anthonomus grandis). When mixed with three other components, Grandlure-I, Grandlure-II, and Grandlure-IV, in specific proportions, it forms a highly effective lure for monitoring and mass-trapping the boll weevil.
